The AIA Central States Region is a designation by AIA National for the states of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. The Central States Region is represented by two Directors who sit on the National Board and help guide policy matters for the national professional organization. Each month, these Directors convene a Central States Region Board, representing each of the components (i.e. chapters) in the region to discuss issues for both the region and at the national level. There are currently two Associate AIA Directors who participate in these calls, representing Emerging Professionals to the Region.
The AIA Central States Region Emerging Professionals Committee evolved out of an interest to better engage professionals earlier in their career. Our demographic is considered very important to the future of the profession and this committee is looking to advocate for our interests to the leadership of our local, state and national chapters.
Each volunteer member is nominated to serve a two-year term on the AIA Central States Region Emerging Professionals Committee, representing each state. Our members include both Associate AIA members, YAF (Young Architects Forum), and more seasoned professionals representing the universities and the larger profession.
