travel scholarships
The AIA Central States Region annually offers the AIA CSR Leadership Award: a travel scholarships to AIA member Emerging Professionals from the Central States Region. This is an excellent opportunity for emerging professionals to experience first hand how the AIA works for the benefit of its membership. Scholarship covers the expense of travel and registration to the AIA National Convention.
Friendly firm award
The AIA Central States Friendly Firm Award gives AIA CSR member firms “Emerging Professional Friendly Firm” designation within our region. To be considered, the firm must be nominated by an AIA member within the region. There is no charge to be considered an “AIA CSR Emerging Professional Friendly Firm”, only your firm’s dedication to this effort. Firms are considered based on their encouragement of emerging professionals during the IDP process, opportunities for young professionals to engage in a variety of experience types, and the financial and public support for professional growth.
Student Design Competition
Since 2012, The AIA Central States Region has held an annual Student Design Competition inviting teams from the 8 accredited Universities in the region to compete in a 12-hour charrette focusing on a unique design problem. This competition serves to create interaction with students and professionals, while showing off the capabilities of our strong regional architecture programs. Winning student teams are awarded prize money and the Charles W. Graham Memorial Heartland Prize, a trophy that was originally designed as part of the 2012 competition.
