2013 STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION
The 2013 Central States Student Design Competition was held in conjuction with the AIA Central States Regional Fall Conference, October 23rd-25th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The participating teams represented the following schools of the Central States Region: Oklahoma University, Oklahoma State University, Drury University, Kansas State University, and University of Nebraska. Each team was composed of 4 students and a faculty advisor. All teams were hosted at architecture/design offices in downtown Oklahoma City, where they worked for 16 hours to create a unique design solution to the assigned program.
The program was a community based charette that allowed students to interact with regional professionals while solving real social and physical design dilemmas. This years' selected program was an Elementary Charter School in downtown Oklahoma City. All teams presented their design ideas to a selected jury of Dr. Joe Pierce (the headmaster of the Elementary School), architect Brian Fitzsimmons, and architect Robert Shaffer. The jury selected three award winning projects. |
